We are looking for a Head of Legal will be responsible for building and maintaining a robust legal framework aligned with the overall business strategy, partnering the leadership team in making strategic decisions on regulatory affairs. This role will be reporting to the CFO.

You will:

• Be responsible with the development and management of the legal function, and to provide strategic legal advice to the management team on matters such as commercial negotiations, payment laws, regulations, data protection, compliance and risks relating to our business.
• Be at the forefront on initiatives around licensing applications and market expansions efforts, representing the Company before regulators, partners and external counsel.
• Draft and negotiate contracts for regional payments with business partners, coordinate execution of agreements and legalization of documents with regional colleagues and counterparties.
• Develop the existing legal competencies, and mentor the regional team of legal and compliance counsels.

You are:

• Market Expert - Having experience in a fintech firm or prior experience setting up legal team in a FI will be highly advantageous
• Relationship Builder - Strong ability to collaborate and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders, include relevant regulators and business partners
• Effective Communicator – You have excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively communicate to Management and all other stakeholders

Your professional qualifications:

• Minimum of LLB (Bachelor of Laws) from a reputable university.
• At least 10 to 15 years of working experience in the legal field, with minimum 5 years practising law in a reputable law firm, and experienced in-house in Singapore (and preferably Fintech)
• Background in payments and fintech, M&A and corporate law.
• Experience and high competence in working with cross-functional teams (product, engineering, marketing, BD, HR, customer service, C-suite), leading negotiations, formulating company and group-wide processes, working with international partners, and conceptualising business and legal concerns in new areas of law and fintech.
• Experience leading expansion initiatives such as licensing, M&A and partnerships in South East Asia or Asia Pacific.
