*Posting on behalf of IPG - Interpublic Group
IPG is one of the world’s largest advertising, marketing and communications organisations. Its SC&E (specialized communications services, events, sports and entertainment marketing, and strategic consulting) reporting segment provides best-in-class global public relations and other specialized communications services, events, sports and entertainment marketing, and strategic consulting. The segment is comprised of agencies that provide a range of marketing services expertise such as Weber Shandwick (www.webershandwick.com), GOLIN (www.golin.com), Octagon (www.octagon.com) and Jack Morton (www.jackmorton.com).
What is the role?
This is an interesting and engaging role of a type that rarely comes up, in a fast moving and fun sector. As SC&E’s sole APAC based lawyer you will provide expert guidance and insight to SC&E’s agencies across APAC. You will report in to the EMEA APAC Regional Counsel based in London and form part of his team. As such, you will have the autonomy to evolve the position whilst being supported by others with extensive experience and the ability to provide guidance as required.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- acting as a trusted advisor and providing counsel to agency heads and senior staff on business affairs and legal issues
- working alongside colleagues from across our diverse business to structure, draft and negotiate client contracts and scopes of service
- delivering talent, production and other supplier agreements
- working on new business opportunities, reviewing confidentiality agreements and proposed contract terms
- supporting the formulation, preparation and implementation of improved risk-management processes including staff training on legal and business affairs issues
- working alongside IPG Legal regional colleagues working for other segments to formulate and deliver compliance and education programs to keep all IPG’s APAC agencies up-to-date on changes in local law and maintaining global/regional best practise
- liaising with senior market, regional and global colleagues to ensure a consistency of approach across markets
- assisting with the management of our agencies’ trademark and domain name portfolio in the region
- assisting on employment, data protection, insurance, litigation, property and other general legal matters as they arise
- liaising with and managing external counsel
