General Summary

Based in Singapore (with travel on an as needed basis), this position will support the WBD business as required across APAC, with a particular focus on SEA & Korea. This individual will work on distribution, marketing, and ad sales agreements, as well as other corporate and intellectual property initiatives. The successful candidate will be a well-organised, self-driven, team player, preferably with some experience and background in television broadcast and/or digital media industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drafting, negotiating, and interpreting commercial agreements, especially as they relate to linear channel distribution & streaming partnerships for the WBD portfolio in SEA and Korea (and other APAC territories as may be required)
  • Draft, review and advise on marketing partnerships, advertising sales sponsorship contracts and advertising sales representative agreements
  • Draft, review and advise on broadcast origination, transmission & uplink, IT, research, marketing, inter-company and administrative services related agreements
  • Advise on general corporate matters and work with third party service providers on corporate secretarial matters to ensure compliance with corporate processes and laws and regulations of the territories in which the group conducts business, and requirements required of a subsidiary of a U.S. listed entity
  • Review and advise on JV agreements, M&A transactions and other contract related matters
  • Oversee litigation and other contentious issues such as intellectual property disputes, piracy (issuance of cease-and-desist letters, online piracy surveillance) and bad debt collection
  • Assist and support legal team on staying updated on regulatory issues

Experience Required

  • Education: Law Degree from a recognized university in US/UK/Singapore or any other relevant jurisdiction
  • Prior Experience/Industry: 5+ years PQE experience in a top-tier law firm and/or MNC, with exposure to international legal systems and ways of doing business
  • Technical and Business: Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail, and an ability to work well under pressure
  • Self-Management: Ability to be able to function largely autonomously with minimal supervision and manage time effectively and judiciously to meet deadlines, recognizing priorities, and deal effectively with the competing interests of several different individuals/departments, and able to assess and balance legal risks against business interests
  • Management and Leadership: Flexible, “can-do” attitude and willingness to learn
  • Language: Excellent English language & drafting skills
  • Other Requirements of person: Ability to work as part of a team and to think outside the box to solve complex problems. Business oriented commercial mindset with a flexible, practical problem solving approach. Mature, level-headed and calm disposition. Confident, sociable and be able to hold his/her own when dealing with senior management
  • Knowledge: IP/licensing, contract/corporate law, advertising regulations, media & broadcast regulations, FDI restrictions
  • Regional/Country Experience: Experience working internationally.
