About the role:

We are looking for a passionate Legal Counsel to join us in an exciting new role to support a growing organization in Singapore. The Singapore office was established in 2019 and covers consultancy and advisory work for multilateral institutions, governments, corporates and financial institutions. The Legal Team is made up of a General Counsel & Company Secretary and four lawyers based in London. We are looking for a Singapore law qualified lawyer to support the Singapore office’s growth, supporting on local and potentially Southeast Asia regional law requirements in English language contracts.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Provide timely and commercial legal advice and support on contracts with clients and partners, including in respect of consultancy, marketing, software, IP, confidentiality agreements, negotiation of standard terms and conditions, bids and procurement primarily in English.
  • Support and advise in relation to compliance matters including with data protection, anti-bribery and money-laundering laws and other legal changes in the regional business environment.
  • Assist the General Counsel with training and compliance with particular focus on Southeast Asia.

  • Comfortable approaching and speaking with colleagues and customers engaging both face-to-face, by email and on the phone
  • Friendly and enthusiastic with a passion for Carbon Trust’s mission



Qualifications and experience:

  • English-speaking lawyer qualified in Singapore with post qualification experience, ideally with private practice and in-house experience.
  • Commercial experience, with experience in drafting and negotiating both business and grant contracts.
  • Familiarity with English law is beneficial.
  • Fluency in another language used in Southeast Asia is beneficial.



Salary & Benefits:

We offer a competitive salary and a performance-based bonus. Our hours are 37.5 per week with 17 days paid annual leave rising to 18 after 1 full years’ service plus bank holidays and a generous pension scheme.
