This role will report into the Vice President, Legal. He/she will provide legal support to stakeholders/business units in a timely and efficient manner, with a focus on practical and commercial solutions.
Job Responsibilities
Assist business users to identify and assess risk in their day-to-day operations and provide legal solutions to mitigate risk.
Provide cross border legal advice and support on all legal issues or queries to various regional functions/ business units.
Review, draft and advise on contracts and other legal documents.
Ensure contracts and legal documents are in compliance with applicable laws and regulations and internal policies or controls.
Assist business users in negotiation of contracts and other legal issues with external parties.
Liaise and coordinate with external legal advisors or consultants as required and manage such costs within budget.
Conduct legal research and analysis needed to produce legal opinions, arguments, and documents.
Keep up with current changes on all relevant areas of laws and pro-actively revise contracts, and legal documents and internal policies as required.
Maintain good communication with business users so as to understand business concerns and changes in operation and propose revisions and updates to legal documents and internal policies as required.
Manage and improve the legal framework to ensure compliance with applicable laws and the achievement of the company’s strategic objectives.
Assist with ad-hoc projects assigned.
Skills and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Law / International Business or related fields.
At least 2 years’ PQE from law firm or in-house. In-house corporate lawyers from leading companies are preferable.
Able to work independently as well as a team player.
Barrister-at-law or Lawyer’s License is preferable.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Proactive and commercial minded with strong interpersonal skills.
Good computer skills to operate basic Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
