About the Role:
Reporting to the Lead Privacy Counsel, the incumbent will bring expertise and relevant experience in data privacy and cybersecurity matters including data privacy program management and negotiating data processing agreements. This role will provide legal support and advice to Sitecore’s global product and business teams. The individual must have excellent judgment in balancing legal risks with business strategy and a proven ability to stay knowledgeable on developing laws and function independently in a demanding fast-paced environment. We are looking for a highly adaptable and collaborative person with a passion for privacy and technology who can handle ambiguity and rapidly shifting priorities with flexibility, patience, and poise.
What You’ll Do:
As the subject matter expert on Asia Pacific Japan (APJ) privacy and security law, provide strategic and practical legal counsel to company-wide stakeholders on privacy and data governance principles and requirements
Monitor privacy and data protection laws and enforcement activities and update the program and/or implement initiatives to maintain compliance with applicable laws across the APJ region
With a focus on the APJ region, negotiate agreements including technology, software license, outsourcing and the related privacy regulations associated with these, including DPAs, ISAs, BAAs, and other data addendums
Support integration efforts arising from M&A and/or other corporate activity, including conducting gap analysis, impact and risk assessments, training and updating policies
Work with Sitecore’s product and engineering teams to incorporate privacy-by-design and privacy-by-default reviews, privacy impact assessments, and data protection impact assessments into our processes.
Collaborate with colleagues across the organization to drive compliance programs for privacy and data security, including GDPR and CCPA, and to develop and implement global standards, policies and processes surrounding privacy and data protection
Engage in special investigations in response to external requests for records and audits or regulator inquiries
What You Need to Succeed:
Qualified lawyer admitted to practice in Singapore or Australia with at least 5 years of related experience preferably including at a top law firm advising rapidly growing technology companies or in-house at a rapidly growing technology company supporting data privacy and security functions
Solid understanding and ability to interpret and implement relevant global data protection laws and regulations, including GDPR, PDPA, PCPD, Australian Privacy Act as well as industry laws applicable to privacy such as APRA
Completion of privacy and/or data protection related certifications (e.g., CIPP/A, CIPP/US, etc.)
Solid understanding and interest in information security principles and requirements and in integrating applicable security standards (SOC, ISO 27001, IRAP)
Experience and confidence with negotiating complex data privacy and information security issues in a commercial SaaS context

Comfortable with technology and technical terminology; experience working directly with engineers is preferred
