As part of the Legal, Compliance & Secretariat Department in the Corporate Planning Division of SIA, the successful candidate’s responsibilities will include the following areas:
Key Responsibilities Include
Litigation & Dispute Resolution
managing actual and potential civil litigation matters involving SIA in Singapore and overseas, including internal reviews and investigations relating to those matters, and managing outside counsel on such litigation matters;
working with internal clients in Singapore and overseas on the handling of passenger claims;
advising on compliance with aviation consumer protection legislation / regulations and investigations undertaken by regulatory authorities; and
advising on compliance with production orders / requests made by law enforcement agencies / regulatory authorities in Singapore and overseas.
Regulatory compliance
advising on queries relation to, as well as compliance with, sanctions and anti-bribery / anti-corruption legislation / laws (including reviewing contractual terms relating to sanctions and anti-bribery / anti-corruption laws); and
drafting and reviewing sanctions and anti-bribery / anti-corruption policies and procedures and working with internal clients in Singapore and overseas on the implementation of such policies and procedures.
Requirements
The candidate should have:
a law degree from a reputable university in Singapore or the Commonwealth;
at least three (3) years of legal experience from a reputable law firm or in-house;
experience in handling litigation matters (aviation or cross-border litigation experience preferred) and/or knowledge of sanctions / anti-bribery and anti-corruption laws and regulations; and
excellent contract drafting skills.
Admission to the Singapore Bar is not required. The candidate should be able to:
work independently and as a team player, and
communicate with people effectively in a dynamic environment.
