Job Description

We are currently recruiting for a Legal Counsel to be based in Singapore .
This role require daily interaction with project teams as well as regional senior management. This will be a great opportunity to understand the commercial aspects of a business and how it interacts with, and is supported by, the legal team. You will be working alongside the Senior Legal Counsel based in Singapore, but you will be reporting to the Regional General Counsel based in Melbourne.
You will be responsible for providing practical and commercial legal advice and support to project teams bidding for a wide range of construction industry related projects. The projects range from small to very large multi-billion dollar infrastructure projects. The role will require daily interaction with project teams as well as regional senior management. The workload is busy, but you will be working with a team of lawyers located in the Asia Pacific region.

Your Duties Will Include
- Contract reviewing and drafting and advice on risk mitigation
- Negotiations with clients
- Providing general construction industry, commercial and corporate legal advice
- Advising on and managing litigation
- Corporate governance, ethics and compliance advice
- Providing some legal training to staff on relevant legal issues
Key Requirements
- Legal degree with 3-7 years’ PQE (post-qualified experience)
- A construction industry technical qualification preferred but not essential
- Construction lawyer with experience in the legal function of a building related company or in a construction and engineering division of a private law firm.
- It will be advantageous if the candidate has experience providing legal services in Hong Kong and/or admitted to practice law in Hong Kong.
- Fluent in English and preferably good working knowledge of Cantonese and/or Mandarin to work on and with Chinese & Hong Kong clients and projects.
