About The Role
As an Information Governance Attorney, you will be responsible for advising on a variety of information governance issues to ensure that the firm’s management of information meets applicable legal, ethical, security and privacy requirements, particularly in Asia. Other key responsibilities include:
Advising on data localization, security, and privacy issues, including assisting with the evaluation of new applications and services, and developing internal policies, procedures, guidelines and best practices with respect to these and other information governance issues.
Identifying risk factors affecting the management of client and firm data, and consulting on firm-wide policies and procedures to minimize firm liability.
Managing the collection, processing, review and production, preservation, or destruction of documents and electronically stored information.
Keeping abreast of new technologies; reviewing appropriate periodicals and journals
Working with an international team of Information Governance professionals, including members of the Information Governance Compliance team based in the United States and London.
About You
We’d love to hear from you if you:
Are a fully qualified Lawyer, especially if you have completed additional coursework in technology-related fields
Have excellent knowledge of Chinese national security, data localization, and privacy laws
Are proficient at a business level in the English language (required); Mandarin and/or Cantonese also preferred
Have relevant experience practicing law and/or working in an Information Governance or Privacy team
And have:
Excellent leadership skills (e.g., organizing, planning, problem-solving and decision-making) necessary for effective supervision.
Knowledge of the concepts, principles, management, and processing of electronically stored information (ESI) as they relate to legal matters.
Strong attention to detail and analytical skills needed for all primary duties of this
Ability to work independently and in a team environment with a customer service focus
Superior communication skills, both written and verbal
Experience working in a U.S.-based global law firm (preferred)
