Legal Counsel
What does a successful Legal Counsel do at Fiserv?
As part of the Asia Pacific Legal & Compliance team, you will be an accomplished contributor who thrives at providing consultation and legal advice with respect to strategic initiatives, delivery projects, customer and vendor contracts, intellectual property, dispute resolution, regulatory matters, corporate policies and procedures, and administration.
What Will You Do
Establish trust with senior business unit leadership through effective legal advice, communication and conduct on commercial matters, including drafting and negotiation of the customer, partner, procurement, and licensing agreements.
Provide advice and assistance on regulatory matters. Overall, comfortable at being the go-to person for providing legal counsel support for multi-disciplinary transactions and cross border projects.
Understand Fiserv contracting standards and enterprise risk thresholds and issues, while independently formulate and advise on risk mitigation, as well as appropriately escalate risks in new and legacy agreements and other business matters without significant oversight from the Head of Legal for APAC business.
Managing external legal support where required.
What You Will Need To Have
Bachelor’s degree in law or equivalent law qualification, Singapore bar-qualified
8-10 years PQE
Experience working as in-house legal counsel, support business in Singapore and other countries in South East Asia
Extensive transactional experience in drafting and negotiating various complex commercial agreements
Fluency, and excellent communication skills, in both English and Mandarin, Chinese (written and spoken)
Ability to manage and negotiate multiple competing transactions, often at short notice, working autonomously and escalating where appropriate, demonstrating drive as well as excellent organisational and prioritisation skills
Ability to work in an international team, with attorneys and non-attorneys, to establish effective solutions efficiently and in an amenable manner
Strong attention to detail, particularly with respect to risk identification/mitigation and contract drafting and negotiating, coupled with the ability to independently investigate complex business problems, develop effective recommendations, negotiate solutions, and resolve issues in a professional manner.
What Would Be Great To Have
Background in Financial Services industry, Technology, Fintech and/or Payments is highly desired.
Proven track as lead negotiator of technology and payment solution contracts with clients and vendors while working in concert with different levels of stakeholders will truly stand out.
