The role:
Over the past few years, the Business Ethics team has focused on enhancing the company-wide programme as well as partnering with Human Resources team in creating a culture of compliance where concerns are investigated and resolved consistently. We have just relaunched “Our Ethics” empowering employees to do the right thing, understand risk frameworks and raise concerns in an open and constructive environment.
In this context, we are looking for a Legal Counsel to assist the Regional Compliance Lead (Head of Business Ethics) to lead the compliance function and create a compliance culture in APAC region. This role will bring together a number of stakeholders in legal, human resources, internal audit, finance, and external partners around a common investigation procedure, process, open reporting culture, monitoring and reporting, as well as root-cause analysis and enhancement of current practices. The tasks of the Legal Counsel will mainly include:
Conduct and/or case manage high-visibility internal investigations, including managing investigation helpline and reporting to Global Compliance
Support Head of Business Ethics, APAC in advocating compliance culture and Our Ethics across the organisation, as well as set up consistent directions or standards.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders like Internal Audit, HR, Retail and Finance functions to update training, onboard new joiners on compliance topics as well as to train internal investigators (e.g. HR team) in APAC
Create a network of external resources (law firms, mediators, authorities etc.) to support investigations and support market teams to comply with local laws and regulations such as Anti-Corruption, Anti-Money Laundering etc.
Share best practices and lessons learned across APAC by closely engaging with market legal and HR teams
Propose solutions and enhancement (and lead change management projects) to current processes addressing root-causes and in order to become more preventive rather than reactive, such as supplier due diligence process
Liaise and collaborate with other business or corporate functions and with other team members across regions and markets to manage and anticipate compliance risks.
